Bierzo Mencía 2018

This is 100% Mencía sourced from vineyards in Valtuille, Otero, Villafranca and Villadecanes. The vines are between 50 and 70 years old. After destemming and crushing, the grapes were macerated at 12ºC before being fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 24-26ºC. Post-fermentation, the wine was kept on skins before two to three months ageing in oak barrels (75% French, 25% American). Vivid aromas of dark cherry, plum and violet. The palate is juicy and balanced with crunchy acidity.
